Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Uruguay. The Embassy's mission is to promote political, economic and cultural relations with these countries. The Embassy opened in 1941and was
among the first Embassies opened by Iceland. About 4,500 Icelanders were domiciled in the U.S. in 2002. The Embassy runs an Overseas Business Service for North-America, located in New York.
